This page has been adapted from Carm Capriotto’s Remarkable Results Radio Podcast bonus episode, A Tribute to Bob Greenwood. You can also listen to Bob Greenwood’s Second Thoughts podcast to hear his short, but very powerful, messages, designed to bring you and your business to the next level.

If you ever heard Bob Greenwood’s passion for this industry you know that he held high hopes for the future success of the independent aftermarket. His passion for making this great industry a profession instead of a trade was one of his biggest talking points (a signature of his) wherever and whenever he had a chance to pontificate.

Bob Greenwood was the president and CEO of the Automotive Aftermarket Learning center, his co focused on providing business management resources and development for the independent sector of the aftermarket.

Bob had over 40+ years of business management experience within the independent sector of the automotive aftermarket industry in North America, consulting with shops on all facets of their business operations. He ran his own local consulting and accounting firm in Ottowa, Ontario, for 18 years and created some of the most productive and financially successful entrepreneurs within the independent sector today.

He was a frequent keynote speaker at many conferences throughout North America, where he always provided his unique insights from his personal experiences working with shop owners. He was the first and only Canadian business management consultant to have been presented the very prestigious Northwood University Automotive Aftermarket Management Education Award, and also was honored by the Governor General of Canada and awarded a prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

But, just as important as all these honors, he was always available to talk. I know many who were able to spend time with Bob to talk about the industry or their business. He was always ready to help and provide his guidance, optimism or wisdom. Bob was driven to elevate and make change.

Haas Performance Consulting LLC

Bob showed up to events and knocked it out of the park! You talk about people walking out with their lights turned on? Everyone’s light was turned on after taking his class. He never waivered on his message to elevate the industry. Bob was a great friend. Guys like him don’t come along often!”

Topels Service Center

Bob was like a movie star in our industry but very down to earth. He always took the time to listen and share his knowledge with others with no strings attached. When we saw him at a training in 2020, he took the time to listen to my team and really bridge the gap between my coach and my team.”

Bob and I go way back. He was a gentleman who only wanted shop owners to do better. He was ahead of his time. Bob made men and women more profitable, knowledgeable, and professional in this industry. I tell ya, I’ll miss the man forever. He was an inspiration to the industry. I can’t tell ya how much I miss him.”

President, Sil’s Auto Care Centre

‘Carlo, if you don’t make profit, no one will be at your retirement party handing you a check,’ is what Bob said to me. He truly wanted to see change in our industry. He was an individual who has touched a lot of people.”

Owner of My Fathers Shop Certified Auto Repair

I really got to know Bob at ASA in 2016. There’s a lot of noise out there in the industry, but Bob was a signal. What he said resonated with me. When you saw and heard him, it stayed with you and you brought it back to your business.”

Owner of Dynamic Automotive

I looked at him as more of a legend than a mentor. I learned that he didn’t just look out for his people, but for everybody. He was a great listener, gave his input and we combined our ideas and in the end, would come up with something great to help people in the industry and I will never forget that. He was a great example.”

My first class with him, I wasn’t really in to it. It was a cold February. I was cold, tired and stressed out. Our business was at an all time low. So I was in my hoodie in the back corner. And then standing before me was a man who ignited the room. He started speaking and it felt like he was speaking directly to me. I heard a man with passion for his profession. He quickly changed me!”

Shop Marketing Pros

Knowing Bob has been a pleasure for many years. I first met him when I started getting involved in the industry as a shop owner nearly twenty years ago. Bob was always positive and encouraging. Now here I am servicing the industry and found myself networking with Bob again as if we never left off. He was dynamic, different, and incredibly generous with his time. His presence was strong and will be greatly missed.”

Bob was a pioneer in our industry as a coach and passionate about helping shop owners be better, learn more and run the best shop they can.

This can’t be done without truly investing time in going to industry educational and networking events. This is why CAMP has instated a Bob Greenwood Memorial Scholarship for funding one shop annually to attend an event of their choosing. Please apply or nominate a shop with the form on this page.
